STONE AND STEEL
"I started with a pile of masonry blocks that fit together geometrically. I had been going through books of architecture and I saw something from Scandinavia – it looked like pre-fab stuff. Each floor was a different color, material, scale, different details, Legos . All scrunched to the left. I couldn’t come up with an idea for a week or more, and then came upon a book of photographs of stones on the shoreline. So I put this derelict piece of stone next to a building – it had a pleading look the way a dog would look at you, asking for attention."
